Patriotism is what has united this country for hundreds of years.

Jingoism, nationalism… sometimes mistaken for patriotism. Patriotism doesn’t mean you think your country is the greatest country in the world. It just means that you love it and you want to make it a better place. The best way to do that is to be open to change, diversity and progress, not to blindly declare your nation to be the greatest on the planet and pretend that it’s perfect just the way it is.

Also, patriotism isn’t the sole driving force that leads people to join the military. I’m joining because the economy sucks, due to the nationalism that drove us into a money sucking black hole of interminable war. Cheers.

True patriots aren’t afraid to call out things that are wrong with the country IN ORDER TO CHANGE those things.
